Hi, I'm Ashley
1PM on a Monday is my independent work studio. I help businesses, nonprofits, schools, and teams turn ideas into actual, finished things — whether that’s a website, a new program, a better process, or just getting a project that’s been sitting on the back burner finally moving.
I've spent over 20 years working in technology, product and program management, education, and operations, including 12 years at Microsoft and Amazon/AWS. I've worked on big projects with big teams, but I've also spent plenty of time working with small organizations where everyone wears five different hats and there’s never quite enough time, money, or skills to do everything we want.
I am also a Washington State certified Career & Technical Education (CTE) teacher. I've taught middle school Automation & Robotics, Game Design, Web Design, CAD, Makerspace, Flight & Space, and more. It turns out managing a room full of 13-year-olds has a surprising amount in common with managing a complicated project. You need a plan, a sense of humor, a lot of patience, and the ability to change direction when things inevitably don't go as expected.
Between my years in tech, teaching, and volunteering with community organizations, I've learned that I really enjoy figuring things out, organizing the chaos, and helping people get things done.
That's what 1PM on a Monday is all about - using my experience and skills to help you meet your goals!
How I work
- I want to get to know you. Tell me about your business, your big ideas, and the things that drive you crazy. All of that helps me figure out how I can actually help.
- I like figuring things out. You don't need to have everything mapped out before we talk. Sometimes figuring out what you actually need is half the project.
- I keep things practical. Not everything needs an expensive tool, a complicated system, or a dozen meetings. Sometimes a good spreadsheet really is the answer.
- I'll tell you what I think. If there's an easier or cheaper way to do something, I'll say so. I'm not interested in making things more complicated than they need to be.
- I want you to understand what we're doing. Maybe it's the teacher in me, but I like explaining how things work. I'd rather leave you with something you can manage yourself.
- I like finishing things. Brainstorming and planning are great, but there's something especially satisfying about checking something off the list and calling it done.
Why "1PM on a Monday"?
It's a little play on words: One Program Manager (PM) on a Monday afternoon (1:00pm), ready to get things done.
1pm on Monday always feels like the time when the week really gets going. Monday morning is out of the way, the coffee has kicked in, the inbox is (mostly) under control, and it's time to get some actual work done.
That's the idea behind the business: sometimes you just need someone to help get the ball rolling and deliver results.
Let's get to work!
